Hi everybody! Just wondering the effectiveness of the 20gr. bullet on 'yotes at 50-150 yards. I have a .243 and a .223, however, the area i live in is getting less rural by the month and i am looking for a cartridge with a little less noise. I was thinking the .17HMR because of its accuracy and the quality rifles in this chambering are quite cheap. My shots would most likely be aimed at the head or centered in the chest. I have yet to have a yote stand sideways to me. They always seem to face me. So basically, will that little bullet take one down at 150 yard max with a clean shot?

I've been using the 20grn load in the field quite a bit in the past year, Everytime I shoot sumpin with the little 17 it just amazes me how it flat puts a killin on critters:evil:

I would not hesitate to use the 20grn ot the 17grn load on a yote under 100 yds. It's just too easy to but that bullet right between the eyes. 150 yds if you're havin a good day.

Ive done it, and it'l make em backflip, however, i would not use it past 100 yards, energy is high inside of 100 but drop s too fast outside 100.
