Looking for an 18-20" .223 Wylde 1:8 barrel for one of my AR's. I'd prefer heavy or SPR contour, rifle length and threaded muzzle. Trying to keep my costs between $150-200.

Anyone have recommendations on a decent barrel? I keep hearing about Ballistic Advantage, but reviews are all over the place.

I have 3 Ballistic Advantage and 2 Faxon; both good to go. I had a minor issue with some scaly matter in one of the Faxons which I quickly remedied. Windham Weaponry has good barrels. Last I heard, Green Mountain provided the blanks and WW took them from there. You'll just need to see if any of these meet your specs. There's more costly ones out there but I'm sure you're aware of those.

Krieger, Proof, Shilen, and Black Hole Weaponry (when they have their act together) are the outfits who get my money for AR barrels.

When built my DMR, I looked at Bear Creek, Ballistic Advantage, and Faxon, due to a $200 budget for the barrel. Out of the 3, Faxon had the most consistently high reviews, so I went with Faxon through Arm or Ally, and was very pleased with my purchase. Faxon had an issue with the company that did their nitriding last year, but they fired them and found another supplier.

Bear Creek Arsenal makes some nice barrels. I have 2 of them on my AR's and I am very happy with them. Built a 300 BLK on 1 AR and at 100 yards the accuracy is great!

Larue Stealth. I built a rifle around a 20" stealth and it shoots great with every bullet weight I have tried.

Mostly 73gr ELD for longer range shooting but it shot tight groups with 50gr varmint ammo too.

Look at the Larue Stealth barrels, same barrels that go in their OBR platform. I've got a couple now and I am amazed at how little case growth I get, something to do with the proprietary chamber maybe.

Ranier Arms mountain series upper. 18" double chrome lined barrel, assembled upper, gas tube, pinned gas block $299. Or just barrel for $149

Accurate and reliable. Mine has out performed my Noveske.

Yeah....

you really shouldn't post pricing and the fact that it's on sale...

My credit card would appreciate it.

I just ordered a barrel. 18" Mid weight.

I’ve rarely been truly happy with $150-200 barrels, any more so than $75-150 barrels. Just kind of a no man’s land for me. I get it, and I get why they sell, but I always itch buying one

Ordered that Rainer 18" Match ... AND ... the Green Mountain 20" 3R. I'll see which one I like better and sell the other. Friend said he'd take either off me, so it made the decision a lot easier.

Thanks for the help!
