Stopped at a pawn shop today in my search for a deal on a BP revolver.
They had an FIE 1849 in .31 cal with a barrel not over five inches in length, perhaps shorter. It has a brass frame though. Also a spot or two of surface rust on the barrel. Looks like the nipples may be battered of just allowed to corrode and the screws for the frame appear burred and unblued.
Like most Pawn SHop bandits they wanted what I believed was way to much ($150 US). Dispite my giving him ample opertunity to make discount offers by explaining that it was too much for my toy budget and that it seemed sort of what I was looking for as a wall hanger.
Am I wrong in thinking this brass framed wreck was over priced at $150?
I am actually considering stopping by there Friday afternoon and offering him a C-note if he deals with the taxes....but not a dime more....though it would make for a bad trip to my final destination and home if they did not take the $100 US
Am I out of line here, or missing something?
My other "big find" in another place was a "rare" Spiller and Burr brass frame kit that some one had assembled but not finished the metal or wood on. THis was marked for a mere $249 and then this bozo started on about some other guns that were rather common that he wanted too much for as well so I walked out of there with no effort to haggle. He actualy had a few military things and ammo I was interested in but had no desire to be composted along with what was being slung about.
Frustrating week day "off"
