Please, do consider that you were seriously underdressed for that pistol - no grown up 1851 shooter should allow himself to be caught in public wearing shorts and a t-shirt. As a matter of fact, no man over the age of 10 should wear those in presence of other human beings (be it another man, or that other species we don't comment around here)... This is, to put it very politely, simply not appropriate. And that black soot on your face - you call that a beard? Good Lord... ;)

Must be really cold in Bulgaria. I wear shorts all summer long and there's no winter in NE Africa.

You must have been brought up in the presence of upper level income people with different scruples. The people you are addressing are probably not in that situation.

I just have to laugh at your post! My brother-in-law wears socks with sandals all the time, which is an oxymoron idea to me, and I don't even like him.

The OP is a young guy so don't fault him on his facial hair. Not all men are plagued with it. My son cannot even grow a moustache. It is all genes. I hate shaving and have had a beard since 1979. Currently it is white (I am 66) and it is 10+" long. I am starting to look like Billy Gibbons from ZZTop these days. I am no beauty contestant. I am too old to care what other folks think.

Give the guy a break. He does not live in your world nor mine, and he probably does not give a crap what you think of his facial hair, and neither do I.

Do you have a dress code in order to shoot guns? Do I have to be dressed in a suit and tie, or otherwise? If so, I don't want to be in your neighborhood.

Regards,

Jim

Mizar was just joking, of course.
Jim, I'm not that young, but people usually think that I'm 5-10 years younger than I really am, because I look like that.

A good bit of funnin' and the intent was clear.

I agree about the beauty of an 1862 Police. For me, the 1861 takes the cake for esthetics.

LOL, one generally finds the skinner ones legs the more opposed to shorts one is. As a drifter between winter Florida and summer New England, shorts and tees are a uniform. At our twice weekly range sessions my shooting buddy laments I look like I belong in Key West, not making clouds of smoke with a Walker. As one ages vanity gets left behind.;)

Hi all! I have ordered this today:
1.jpg
It's remote controlled, all-terrain, I will call it Red Land Rover - it will act as a platform for moving target :D
2.jpg

I know I will be criticized and become the object of jokes about how uninformed I am, an old fogey who is totally out of it, but I need to ask the question; what is the symbol on your tee shirt? It is kind of like a Rohrschack picture, I can imagine all sorts of things. I did three Google searches in attempts to avoid embarrassment from asking the question!!

Extremely cool. "On ne passe pas”.

I’m Jungian enough to respond to old symbols and had thought the Tryzub was a stylized eagle but it’s either a gyrfalcon or a trident.

I like nationalism, theirs and ours, and those that do, too. Well done, 1861.

1861 - keep us updated on that platform for a moving target. Perhaps a separate thread in the training/tactics forum.

Hello Gary, nice to see a Staff Member here :)

I'll be happy to inform you about that little idea of mine. I expect to have a rover in few weeks. When I see how it acts on terrain, I'll think of the best way to install a target on it. It will probably be something like antenna (ideally 1 meter high, if possible) with some very light target on top, maybe a thin plastic cup or similar... I'm not a fan of paper because I like to see things blown to smithereens, so paper is not very interesting. It's always 2 or more of us, so one will control rover while the other one shoots. And third one filming :D
Later this year I'll start with reloading, I expect to shoot bullets for the first time in my life, most likely hollow-base wadcutters... then the real fun will begin.

A separate thread in the training/tactics forum sounds a bit too serious at this moment. I'm doing this for fun, and as my personal homage to a time when Colt Navy meant life or death.
Training/tactics is not me. But we'll see.

Thank you very much Eyrie.

My "None shall pass!" actually comes from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" :D
That last photo is some unintended bizzare mix of Leone's spaghetti westerns and De Niro's Taxi Driver, set in southern Europe outback with a current war-torn-Ukraine vibe... and Monty Python aura above it all.

You are right about Tryzub, it’s either a gyrfalcon or a trident. No-one knows today.

I'll tell you just one thing... I like Colt 1851, not 1861... so my forum name has nothing to do with Colt.

Yes, sir, the Pietta 1851 Navy .36 types are my favorite. I just wish I could procure another G&G just for the part octagon/part round barrel and plain cylinder. I still have to go to Taylors to see if they can procure one from the Italian Pietta site. It is going to be a long row to hoe. That is my plan to produce a Dance and Brothers .36 gun with another Pietta Navy .36 steel frame pistol. It will take a long time.
