As a bunch of you know I was on vacation a couple of weeks back and this is the first chance I have had to make a good post.
While I was in Arizona the place where I went to didnt have any holy black and the price of 3f Pyrodex was insane however I did have a chance to buy 777 for $17 a pound. I had my Walker and my Remmie. First with the walker i was throwing 45 grains with wad and .454 ball nice load for the walker and pretty good accuracy. now then with the remmie I was throwing 28 grains with wad and .454 ball, I was amazed at how accurate this damn thing is. Since I got it from Cabelas the one that was on sale. I was only able to run about 24 shots thru it."200 to 300 rounds in Arizona". However while I was in Arizona my brother turned me on to a cool little game they called "cowboy golf" Take a bunch of old golf balls and throw them around the area 15 to 30 yards distance also had some steel plate targets. Will when you can hit a golf ball from 15 to 30 yards out it says alot about the revolver. I am not the best shooter on the planet by any means but when you see the golf balls flying around like that makes you stop and really take note of the smoke stick you are holding.
The 777 is a damn fine product but remember to decrease your throw a little.I think its supposed to be by 15%. Just thought I would share a little of my wonderful shooting vacation.

I've had a lot of fun with Bob Munden's "can rolling", although when they get up to about 20 feet away I cheat by actually sighting. "Cowboy golf" promises a new world of fun and frustration!

I often throw clay birds onto the berm to plink at, or will glue them to paperboard with hot glue before stapling it up on a target holder.
A local gunshop sells used bowling pins which can be placed on a stand or can be hung below a frame so that it will swing when hit. Just tie a rope around the neck of the bowling pin and attach it to both sides of the frame.

I use 3fg 777 in my 1858 and get great results as well. You just have to make sure that you try to use equal pressure on each ball you load, as extra compression will result in a noticably shot - verified by my chronograph.

I use 777 in my 1858's all the time when I am not using my home made smokeless (no sulfur) black powder. Completely agree about the part regarding seating the balls. 777 burns more reapidly under pressure from what I heard, so it is good to not to overexert force when loading, unless you want crazy inconsistencies with velocity and accuracy.

I hope no one minds me asking but:

Could you guys give me the load ammounts of 777/fff that you use in your 58's?
I have 3 cans of it here for my inline & may be inclined to try it in mine.
