Finally got a chance to shoot just a little yesterday.
In the last few months I've added a LeMat, Walker, and a home built .50 cal Hawken style pistol to my collection.
I only shot the Walker yesterday, but had fun. I was very surprised at how little recoil the Walker has. That huge weight sure soaks it up. I expected it to shoot high at 25 yards just like my Remmies and Colt does, but it seemed to be even higher than they are.
I usually shoot .451 round balls in the Remmies and Colt, but tried .454 with the Walker. I noticed it still wasn't cutting a really good lead ring. Do most of you Walker shooters use .457's?

I'll pick up some .457's then. Mine is an Uberti. I loaded it up with 50 gr. of Pyrodex P. Think I might try getting some Swiss powder or Goex to try out too.
Thanks.

I use .457s in my Uberti Walker with a wonder wad and about 45 grains of 3F Goex. Nothing like the smell of real blackpowder!

Ditto on the .457 for the WALKER. I use a .454 in my Dragoon and Remington and they are dead nuts on, however the WALKER shoots high with the .454. Why? I haven't the foggiest. Good luck and welcome to THR:D

I've always used the .451 in my Remmies and Colt. I may burn up the .454's in them now since I've got a box of them. Anyone shot a LeMat? Wonder if it would prefer .454 or .451. With the weaker loading lever design, I'll probably try .451's first. I've never tried wonder wads. I've always just finished filling each hole with BoreButter after loading. Makes a big mess, but smells good. :)
