I was looking to change out my Pietta 1858 Remmy with something with little more flash to it for CAS. I was looking at the imitation ivory grips from a number of vendors. Has anyone here ever bought/made grips for the 1858. Some of the websites have a Pietta specific 1858 grip set to accommodate the larger grips that Pietta makes to fit more modern sized hands. Will these likely still require fitting? How is the quality?
Thanks guys :D

Hi Chris. Everywhere I've checked out says to either send them your grips or to put your grips on a pice of paper and draw around them and send that to them. Then there's the guy that wants your gun. So unless you know someone near you that dose custom work you will probably end up haveing to do just a little work around the edges or some simple something to them. Then again you could get lucky. I want some done to but have run into the samething you have. I'm going to refinish the old one's for now. Sooner or later I'll give one of the new set's a try just to find out how good they are. :)

Hey there was a post on here about a week or so ago by Tinpan58 titled "New grips for my Remington" about how he makes custom grips out of polymer clay. I would post the link for you but I don't know how. But you can find it. It's just down this page aways.

I'd like some bone grips for my Remington. Don't know where to get any, though.

I'd like to try stag Jaymo. I have a Colt 1860 with a 5" bbl I'd like to try them on also. Just because I've not seen one with them. Just got a feeling it would look real nice. :)

Every different make of '58 Remington has slightly differen shap/sized grips. They are not interchangeable among ASM, ASP/Euroarms, Uberti, & Pietta.

Hay Tom. Them grips look good and seem to be on a lot of bp pistols now days. How do they feel in hand when you grip the gun? You can order them from a coulpe different places. Just haft to look them up.

Hellgates right each gun is different. Most any grip will need just a little fitting which is not a real big deal. I was hopeing to find some for a 58 that would be a little fater in the hand than the ones that came on it to get a better grip on the pistol and stag grips for the 60 Colt Army W/5" bbl.
