1860 base pin removal...HELP!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and was refered here from another I have been a member of for awhile. They said you all were pretty knowledgable about these old bp revolvers so here goes. I have an older Hartford model 1860 with the nicest finish and case colors I have ever seen on a replica. Problem is the previous owner seems to have bent the base pin. For the life of me I can't see how he did it but the cyl can't even be mounted. I can get the parts, base pin and the pin to hold it in place..(they used a third barrel pin). The pin they use is inserted into a blind hole in the back of the frame where the hammer rests. I assume this rides in a slot in the base pin and frame to jam it and keep it from unscrewing. The only way I can see to remove this is to drill the pin out...(the jam or locking pin). Does anyone have any experience with this or know anyone who does this? Thanks!!!

Pretty much you've got it right.
Drilling out the lock pin is the only way because it is a snug fit & no access other than under the hammer.

A drill press would be your best option but it can be done with a hand drill & have the frame in a vise if you have a steady hand.
