I have an 1891 Argentina Mauser with a sporterized stock that I would like to switch out for an original 1891 stock. However, I am having trouble finding one. Anyone have an idea where I can find one? If I cannot find an 1891 stock, can I substitute another military mauser stock for it?

Thanks!

Anyone know whether a Belgian 89/36 stock will work? One guy told me he thought 89 thru 92 stocks would interchange. In hind site, he wished he had kept all the original mauser stocks he had back when. Sold them to someone to make coat racks out of. I can tell you he doesn't wish it anymore than I do. I just want to get my old gun as close to original as possible.

Email Russell at Springfield Sporters: http://www.ssporters.com/

There is a chance that he may have what you seek, but not enough of them to be listed in inventory on the website.

Be detailed and very patient as it sometimes takes awhile for him to make time to research & respond.

Good Luck!

BTW, years ago I came into possession of a Exc/VG condition Polish Wz29 rifle barrelled-receiver+bolt. Unable to find the other parts, I contacted Russell (sent him a request letter with plastic payment info ... and in which I told him that I was in no rush) hoping that, at a minimum, he might have just the wood components. I figured that if I had the wood I could replace most of the missing metal bits with old M98 kit.

After a long delay I received a a complete set of the missing parts ... for an outrageously good price (like, $45-$50, IIRC). :D

She is a beeeeeeoootiful, correct Wz29.
