1893 turk mauser bayonet

I recently bought an 1893 Turk Mauser, (1933 rearsenal to 8mm mauser and 1903 semi-pistol grip stock) That I am refinishing and getting some of the "proper" odds and ends for (sling, cleaning rod, bayo, etc) but cant seem to find out whick bayonet style/length would be "most correct".There seem to be 3 types common:
1) 9.5" or so blade with no handguard
2)20" or so blade with long, curverd handguard on one side above handle
3)longer or foreign capture blade cut down or modified to fit 1893 bayo lug

Does anyone have any idea as to which of #1 or #2 would have been correct for an 1893? Cant seem to find the info anywhere. Does it really even matter with all the re-arsenaling (ie: will both #1 and #2 fit, and either is just as "correct"., so just pick one?)

The handguard is called a quillion. As it is rearsenalled, #1 would be most correct, though this is a Turkish weapon, so any bayo that fits, basically, would be correct.

Thanks for the quick response. #1 seemed to be the most likely from the little info I could find,although, as you said, it appears the turks werent real picky either. I just like to do the best I can with my cheap, not particularly valuable milsurps when I restore them just for my own pleasure.

Did you get it from the sportsmans guide? They have some or those 1935 rearsenals and the bayonetts also.

Side note:
Are those things really "shootable"? I mean, are they safe to fire, and how accurate can you expect them to be?

I sporterized one, in 8x57...Safe enough for both american and European (S&B) commercial loads, as well as medium hot handloads. I did try some the "Turk" 147 grain loads (which are consider pretty hot), and the bolt was sticky, so I quit after a couple rounds. The S&B commercial loads were pretty accurate (after I shortened and re-crowned the barrel), right around 1 MOA. Milsurp ammo, of any type I tried never gave what I would consider good accuracy.

Now, I DO have the bayonet (with sheath) I got with the gun, which you are welcome to, if you wanna pay the few dollars for shipping. I guess its a "#1" although I'm not quite sure what you mean by "No handguard"...PM me if interested.

DogBonz-no, actually I got it from an auction on gunbroker.The seller, Brian Dill of milsurp-parts.com came recomended from a C&R forum.Nice guy, nice gun.As far ai shootability of Sportamansguide's guns, I have no idea.havent heard either way.Also havent even fired mine at this point as I'm just now finishing up with stock cleaning/refinishing with BLO and tung oil.Hope to reassemble this weeend and test it out.It passes with go/no gauges.
