I have a 1895 44 Marlin that I love dearly , I put a Nikon Prostaff scope on it which was sweet but I decided to take it off and use the open sights . I took it out yesterday to see what kinda adjustments I had to make before this weekend.WELP to my suprise Im shooting 5"high and 4" to the right . I can adjust the elevation but I cant adjust the windage. Has anyone evr had a fully adjustable rear sight put on this Marlin ,how did it turn out and where can I find one? Im thinking I'd like to put fully adjustable rear sights on the rear and a fiber optic sight up front . Any help would be apreciated.

You can drift the rear sight in the dovetail for windage, just use a brass punch and a soft mallet. One tip, a brass bolt is way cheaper than a punch, just grind the threads off.

When adjusting rear sights I like to put a blank address label or piece of masking tape under the point on the sight base. Then I use a pen with a very fine nib and trace the outline and also draw a line at the point on the sight.

When you do this it makes it easy to see just how much you moved the rear sight when tapping on it.

If you have brass marks on the sight after you tap on it they can be removed with bore cleaner that removes copper. I like the Barnes CR-10 for this.
