I have a pair of Colt 8rd and a pair of Chip McCormick 8rd mags. Never a hiccup from any of them in hundreds of rounds apiece. I also have several Colt 7rd mags. The only difference I've ever noticed in performance is that the 7rd empties out too darn quickly. ;)

I’ve only been using Wilson combat 47D Magazines in my Ed-Brown Special Forces Model, since I got it last year, and have not had any reliability issues as of yet, in over 600-rounds. And I leave the magazines loaded 24/7.

...or you could get rid of the dinosaur and come into the modern age by buying a Glock!

I couldn't resist! I really like the Wilson 47Ds in my Colt, they've been ultra reliable.

I also have 5 Kimber Pro-Tac 8 rounders that work perfectly in my Combat Commander and my girlfriends Government model.

I have McCormick 8 round shooting star mags. They work perfectly, never a problem in my Kimber. However, I've never kept a 7 or 8 round mag loaded for an extended period of time, so I can't comment about 8 round mag extended reliablility.

Wilson 47Ds work for me

No issue over the years with more then 5000k rounds through 'em.

I also have two Wilson Officers mags (7 rounds on a short frame) for 4 or 5 years that I've kept fully loaded almost constantly. Still run like a champ.

Just my two cent's worth, but I have an eight round mag that came with my Kimber in 1997. It has been in constant use since then in matches twice a month and as a carry gun. I've never replaced the spring or the follower. It still works great. BTW, it was made by MecGar.

I only use eight and 10-round mags anymore. But, I keep a stash of followers and springs. As soon as I notice something suspicious the mag gets a new follower and spring.

I average about one FTF or FTE per year and shoot 10,000 to 12,000 rounds a year.

JMHO, it is a non-issue...

McCormick IS Colt

As far as I know Chip McCormick Shooting Star 8-rnd. mags became and still are the Colt Factory supplied mags. Never a prob in my Colt Combat Target.

My "Colt" magazine was made by Checkmate. I think it has the same follower design as the McCormicks though.

I've used Act, Checkmate, Chip McCormick Shooting Stars, Chip McCormick Power Mags, and Kimber. They all have similar designs except for the Act. I got a few problems with Act mags, but I think they were related to my reloads and not really the mags fault. I never had it fail with factory ammo. Other people have had good (and bad) experiences.

I'm another fan of the Wilson 47D.

I have 2 that I have used since 1995. Still have their orginal followers and springs. At one time these 2 were the only 8rnd mags I owned. I actually lost one of them in my car for 2yrs fully loaded and when I found it I thought it was going to be dead... however it shot all 8rnds just fine.... That was about 6yrs ago. I couldn't even begin to guess the round count on them. I never kept track of that stuff when I was young.

I have 2 newer ones (2yrs old) that work just as well. They do have a different looking finish on the outside but thats the only difference I can tell. These are up over 1000rnds between them. My 185LSWC reloads, 230gr WWB ball, 230gr Remington JHP's, 230gr Federal HST and Hydra Shock JHP's. No problems and I'm very pleased with their performance.

I have 1 Wilson ETM and its my least relible mag for some reason. Came with a gun I bought and it just don't work that great in any 1911 I own.

I have 2 COLT factory stainless 8rnd mags that came with my new Combat Elite. Only a year old but both have been 100% so far. 600rnds between them in the Combat Elite and a few mags apeice to just see how they work in my stock 80 Series Commander. CDNN has these on sale ($25.00) occasionally and I'll probally buy a few more of them when they go back on sale.

All of the above have wadcutter feed lips.

Now I use to have an orginal Wilson/Rogers 47D that had hybrid type feed lips. I sold it with a 1911 I had coverted to .400 Corbon as it worked 100% in that gun (which had an over cut feed ramp from the PO) .... wish I had it back just for conversation thou as it seems to be a very rare mag.

Overall my experience is with the Wilson 47D's and they have been good to me.
Will
