1911-A1 REMOVE TRIGGER SLACK

Pretty sure that little screw is for over travel. Not slack in the take up.
That screw is adjusted so that it hits the frame right after the trigger bow disengages the sear and dropping the hammer. So your trigger pull doesn't go any further.

Pretty sure removing the take up, requires work in the trigger/disconnect/sear area I.E. a trigger job :)

The screw is for overtravel. It bears against the magazine catch.
The only way to reduce takeup is to either rework the disconnector and sear or to use a trigger with the adjustment tabs on the bow behind the blade.
Reduce, not remove. The action needs a little slop in there so it can sear up solidly when the gun cycles.

The set screw is for overtravel. Adjust it and locktight it, or just throw it away.

You can remove the loose play (front to back) of the trigger with the adjustment tabs on some aluminum triggers.

If you try to adjust all the takeup out of the trigger you will at least stop the sear from being able to engage the half cock cut in the hammer and at worst stop the sear from engaging at all. Both bad. Get someone who fools with 1911's to look at this for you. :)
