Does anyone know how to remove and install a staked on front sight on a 1911? Also what tennon size do I need for a Springfield Armory?

You reach inside and drive the old one out with a punch. If it's a very good stake job, it will help to grind off some of the stake with a dental burr in a Dremel first.

Staking a new one will require a staking tool of some sort.
For a one-time job, it's cheaper to leave it to a gunsmith who already has the staking tool.

Especially if you are using a larger, heavier target front, which doesn't like to stay on.

And really especially if you are going to a night sight which is easily broken without proper support.

Unless you have to keep a GI military appearance for some reason, I'd get it dovetailed and forget about staking.

It's a far superior method of attaching a front sight on a 1911.
