I have seen the tools to do the job. Is this something that I can make the tools for myself to stake them in ? Or must I buy the tools ? Not sure how bad they are yet. Previously held in with a large amount of locktite from a prior owner. Goo was dripped all over the inside of mag well. Nasty. One grip bushing is not even seated, looks like I may need new bushings. Can make them on the lathe if need be, or order new ones from Brownells.

Riss, Just read your problem. Well I would actually have to see it to have a positive solution. On the other hand, they make oversize bushings. You would have to buy a tap for the new size and re-thread the frame. Another solution would be to order the Gel Acura Glass kit from Brownell's and use it to hold the bushings. This stuff is great. If you use it be sure to clean the old threads really really good and don't get any of the stuff on any other part of the gun as it is almost permanent. Staking will work for a while but will not be a permanent fix.
Hope this helps.

Most manufacturers don't bother with staking anymore. Red Locktite does just fine. Like the old Bryllcreem commercial says, "A little dab'l do ya'." If the holes are stripped/crossthreaded, Brownells sells oversized bushings and tap to match.

Staking + blue LockTight is my prefered method.

I made my own staking tools about 40 years ago.

Never had one come loose again.
