I have an aluminum framed 1911. Some of the grip panel bushings have stripped out, even after being installed with red Locktite. I purchase the oversized bushing repair kit from Brownells and replaced the stripped out bushings. Again, I used red Locktite when installing them. Those have also stripped out. They are stripping out when I am shooting not when I try to take the grip panels off. I tried JB weld (slow cure) to epoxy them in. I've done this three times, each time getting more aggressive with the metal prep. They keep popping loose while I'm shooting. I was informed that JB Weld is bit too brittle to handle the recoil. It was suggested I try regular epoxy. Tried this too. Same results.
Ultimately, I would like to have a new steel frame fitted to the slide. But, my other 1911 is at the manufacturer being repaired. So, I don't want to give this one up just yet. I'm looking for recommendations on an adhesive that will hold the bushings in until I'm ready to get a new frame?
