Does anyone know how tight is enough for a 1911 grip screw? I've just been doing them a little over finger tight with the ends of the screwdriver, not torquing it too much.

I'm scared to strip the screws or the mounting points in the gun, but don't want them backing out while shooting. I had my left grip back out while shooting the other day. :banghead:

Just snug them down good and they will be fine. No real elbow grease, just good and snug.

Use a little loctite to keep em in.

Those are famous last words...

Loc-Tite come in different strengths, and some gun makers use the stuff to hold in the grip screw bushings, rather then stake them. Use the wrong grade of Lock-Tite on the screw, and the next time you try to unscrew the screw the bushing may come with it. :cuss:

A drop of ordinary clear fingernail polish will do the necessary holding without getting you into trouble.
