I did a search, but I still can't find anything addressing my specific problem.

I've been working on a Charles Daly 5" 1911 that was given to me years ago.
I recently installed Ed Brown components (hammer, sear, disconnector), and then wished to finish it off with a Caspian Trik Trigger. Everything works fine with the stock trigger, but after fitting the Caspian trigger, things went south. Basically, when I rack the slide, the hammer locks into position, but will not fall when I pull the trigger. The trigger stop screw is backed all the way out, so I know it's not hindering the process. Also, without the grip safety installed, the hammer will fall, but only after I pull the hammer slightly past the sear engagement point.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Remove the slide assembly and try again, with and without the grip safety in place. It sounds like the disconector is failing to reset.

Another unlikely possibility is that the trigger bow slot is too deep, and the back of the bow can't reach the disconector before the magazine latch blocks the trigger's fingerpiece. Remove the magazine latch and see if that makes any difference.
