What about alien gear they have an option where you get the shell plus the iwb and owb mounting frame anyone used those before? also looking at the fobus and blade tech they all look pretty good and the price of them all is in my range.

I can't find it listed for the basic Blade-Tech OWB, but their Eclipse model uses .080 kydex.

Comp-Tac uses .125 kydex for their OWB models, but .090 for IWB which is the model you said you have. http://www.comp-tac.com/construction.php
Thanks for appointing yourself an internet fact checker, we all appreciate your tireless work...

You can look-up anything you want, but you don't own any of them, do you?

Maybe a few pictures will help to show that Blade-Tec has the thicker kydex?? -And no, I did not hit them with a caliper to determine thickness out to .000mm.

First picture Clockwise from 12-o'clock: Blade-tech, Milt Sparks, Comp-Tac Minotaur, Comp-Tac C-TAC.

Second picture: Blade-tech, C-TAC, Minotaur

Third Picture: Close-up of C-Tac left, Blade-Tec right, comparing thicknesses of kydex.

You are welcome.

You are correct.

I apologize, I misread your previous statement…

Blade Tec holsters, they use a grade of kydex that is thicker than anything I've ever seen. I'd consider them if you want to carry OWB.
I read that you said Blade-Tech uses thicker kydex for their OWB holster than other makers. All you were really saying is that the kydex used in your Blade-Tech OWB holster is thicker than the kydex used in your Comp-Tac IWB models. You are correct in that statement. My misunderstanding.

I didn't want the OP to get the same wrong impression I did, that maybe you were saying Blade-Tech uses a thicker kydex for OWB holsters than others do. It is just the thickest kydex you've ever seen. Sorry for my confusion.

Full size 1911, I am tall fat at times not to bad right now but still have soft bulges that get gouged around the middle. I work inside and live in the south humib warm summers mild wet winters. It is an inland state.(Arkansas) I never wear suits but mostly cotton slacks with a polo or button down tucked in (with suspenders) . I would want the weapon to be concealed under a jacket or possibly a shirt un tucked.
Theis Holsters, if a kydex/leather (or horsehide) hybrid suits your needs, and it sounds like it will. I've had one for a couple of years, and it's been just outstanding. Tommy has currently suspended horsehide production, due to a lack of quality horsehide, but he may still have some available. I don't know for sure.

Theis is also located in Mayflower, AR. :D

ETA: If you're in central AR, there's a gun show in LR 6/28 and 6/29 down at the State Fairgrounds. Theis has a booth at almost all of the central AR guns shows, so I'd be very surprised if he didn't have one this weekend.

For 1911's I prefer Milt Sparks Summer Special 2's over anything else I've found.

Since I didn't want to wait for one that'd fit a rail, I've been using a Comp-Tac Minotaur for my Kimber Warrior, works great too.

I've also had good success with Simply Rugged for leather IWB and OWB.
