Kimber 8 round Kim-pro tac mags. Feed every round flawlessly in my Stainless II. I've had problems with the Wilsons feeding the last round.

Wilson's I bought a couple and they are worth the price in my opinion. I tried some of the cheaper chip mckormick 8 rounders and they suck. I also have some Pachmeyer magazines that work well also and my metal forms are flawless.

Ditto on the Metalform magazines. I have never had one fail, or fail to lock open a slide. I have tried Wilson mags or ones with similar type followers, in alot of guns, and there are alot of 1911s out there that won't hold the slide open with a Wilson type mag follower, unless you change the gun's slide stop and spend some time tweaking it. Most slide stops chew up the the composite follower material at the slide stop contact point. That's alot more costly than just buying a Metalform mag. I would trust my life to them in a carry gun too. They even work great with shortened slide models

cmc mags and kimpro tac mags have been good to me, also i have nothing negative to say about sa factory mags. they are a little crude but they work. and with the "loaded" coupon they came at quite a good deal.

I shoot a lot with CMC's, but have had to replace springs, but even with replacing the springs they are a great value. The CMC powermags have all been great.
After a few thousand rounds, every Wilson I've ever owned needed the springs replaced. I also have a Springer that chokes on them.
The first gen Tripps were terrible, and I'm still so peeved I haven't tried the second gen yets.
Metalforms and Colts are great in the 7rd option, but I prefer an 8rd.
I've found the only 8rd magazines that universally work in every 1911 I own and hold up to thousands of rounds without any issues whatsoever are the Checkmates.
If you're a 1911 fan, and you haven't tried one of the Checkmates yet, you really owe it to yourself to give them a try. They are pretty darn impressive.

Nksmfamjp,

If by "CMC Standard" you mean his Shooting Star 8-rounders, that's what I carry. Although, I am starting to lean more towards his Power Mags.

Sincerely,

Prof. A. Wickwire

Everytime this question comes up, my answer is the same...Wilson 8 rounders! I have tried several others & these have proven the most loyal & reliable!

Colt factory 7 rounders or Mec-Gar 7 round with a Colt follower. Haven't tried the Checkmates but have heard good things about them.

Checkmates seem to be all the rage over on the 1911 forums. Anyone know how much they are?

You didn't specify which WIlson Combat 8 rd mags.
so I voted Other

WIlson COmbat ETM mags. It's all I use since the
S&W supplied ACTs are not acceptable in performance.

I have heard enough endorsements of CMC Power Mags
I'm going to buy 2 and try them.

I've never had a prob with a colt mag that was not directly related to abuse. you know, like steping on it after a speed reload.
