Hello everyone, this is my first posting here. Has anyone tried Metalform 1911 magazines? I have been told that they are factory OEM mags for Colt and a couple of other companies. I want to buy the 8 shot 45 mags, any input is appreciated. I would rather spend under $15/mag than $25/mag for another brand if these work with 8 45 ACP dum dums.

I use Metalform for range magazines, they seem to perform nicely in my two .45s built on Officer frames.

Whether they work with any particular ammo in any particular gun can only be determined through experimentation ... just buy a couple next time you're ordering and test them. Most modern HP designs will feed just fine through modern magazines and guns. Unless you actually have some vintage ammo from the Dum-Dum arsenal in Calcutta, you'll likely be fine.

I have used The Kimber 1911 mags in all my 1911's. Cost 15 to 20 bucks depending on model. Get them at

IMOP Metalforms are a good quality mag. All but (4) of my (10) 1911 magazines are Metalforms, I've replaced the internals in a few of them with Tripp Research components when the slide stopped locking back on the last round from time to time. So far so good.
