Recently purchased a Wilson commander style hammer and beavertail for my springfield GI 1911. Modifications to frame for beavertail went very well. Looks good to. My issue comes in when i try to install the thumb saftey. It will not fit between the new sear and commander hammer assembly! According to the techs @ Wilson this is not supposed to be an issue. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated!

No, I have made any changes to the new parts. Is there a site that provides instructions for this modification?

You can pretty much expect to do some repeated disassembly/reassembly and some fitting to most of the parts of a 1911 regardless of what the parts companies tell you.

If you don't have it, buy a copy of the Kuehnhausen (sp?) manual--and, IIRC, Bill Wilson has a good CD on 1911 home 'smithing.
