"My only complaint is one of the rosewood grips is slightly loose. I haven't yet bothered to grab an allen wrench that fits to tighten it up, but I don't think something like this sohuld be loose on something less than a year old."

This is sarcasm, right? 'Cause if it's a serious complaint I think I should contact Springfield about the lint in my slide serrations.

Speaking of lint, if anyone knows how to wipedown a colt with the factory stainless finish without lint sticking to all of the rounded parts of the pistol I sure would like to know.

Why don't you open a fresh thread with your question, instead of thread jacking this guy's thread?

The only pistol on your list that I own is a Kimber Tactical Entry II. I've really enjoyed the pistol over the past three or four years (my project pistol) but I wouldn't recommend it over a TRP. However, I wouldn't recommend the TRP either with its 20 lpi front strap checkering and the fact that there are much better choices. Given your budget I would recommend a Dan Wesson Valor with the stainless finish. You can find them for $1,500 or so and you'd be hard pressed to find a better pistol at that price point. You'd need to fit an ambi safety of course. You could have Dave Severns of Severns Custom give it a "Hard Hat" finish in the future if black is important to you (it is to me). This would be a cheaper and better way to go over buying a Valor with the black "Duty" finish which is a ceramic based coating. "Hard Hat" is a Controlled Liquid Ionic Nitride (CLIN) finish and when I compare my Kimber with "Hard Hat" it looks/feels better/harder than the "Duty" finish on my Valor and V-Bob.

Another great choice would be the Dan Wesson Specialist in stainless for around the same price. It comes with an ambi safety.

If I was going to buy a 1911 in this price range, I personally would look no further than the Dan Wesson Valor. I still kick myself for not buying one when I had the money.

sent from my Galaxy Note II.

It looks like Dan Wesson Valor is a popular pick. Mine is a stainless, and I like the advice an earlier post gave about the Severns Hard Hat Treatment. I wanted Black but couldn't justify the extra money at the time so I purchased stainless. I have had my pistol since 2010 and right now it is in Las vegas waiting to get the Hard Hat Treatment.
