When replacing any 1911 parts -- trigger, slide stop, disconnector, etc. -- does anyone have any favorite brand that they trust or have good experiences with? Or bad experiences with?

I'm thinking of aftermarket parts suppliers like Ed Brown, Wilson, Harrison Custom, etc.

I used the top of line Wilson in my Defender Hammer ,sear, disconnector, and trigger . Still to come Be a ambi safety and slide stop .
It was a project last winter for my daughter and I. I had barrel hood jeweled, hammer, trigger.

Ah! Right -- EGW. Forgot about them for a moment.

I have used parts from Ed Brown, King's Gun Works, and Colt and have found them all to be very high quality parts.

King's parts were kind of rough but they were a great value for the price. It's really sad that they're gone. EGW makes some of the best parts today - dimensionally and finish wise.

There's no shortage of great options, but in my biased opinion, Wilson Combat's Bullet Proof parts are the way to go. Other excellent options are Evolution Gun Works, Cylinder & Slide, and Ed Brown.

I bought a used Colt 1991A1 compact. The slide stop broke the second time I took it to the range. I replaced it with a Wilson Combat bullet proof stop. Then things kind of mushroomed from there. The plastic trigger had to go. A Wilson beaver tail, and so on. I now call it my Wilson/Colt.

You're right! Les Baer. This is not getting any easier....

I'm looking mostly for a short, solid trigger and a slightly extended magazine release... and some grips. I'm sure I can put together an order from most any of those folks...

Oh, you had to say "grips." That increases the number of suppliers tremendously.

Evolution Gun Works hands down.

George Smith and his crew used to work on my guns back when they were in their original facility in Doylestown, PA then when they first moved up county to Quakertown, until they went out of the gunsmithing and gun building business, to concentrate on building the best 1911 & AR15 gun parts out there. If you go to their Quakertown facility, you will be impressed!
