Hey guys. I've always wanted a good 1911 but the ones I've wanted have eluded my price range. However with the current hi cap scare and bullet craze it looks like I'm at a point of being able to sell my nearly new in the box M&P pro 5" and 6 hi cap mags along with seven boxes of 9mm ammo to come up with nearly 13-1500 bucks for a decent one purchase 1911.

The problem I have is I've narrowed the search to 3 guns. So if any of you have experience or info good or bad on any of them chime right on in.

Here they are.

Springfield stainless TRP

The newSmith And Wesson SW1911 Performance Center with the ported slide

And Kimber Super Carry custom HD

Budget is under 1500 and the use will be range, defense, part time carry and a little BBQ gun to be honest.

Thanks for all the replies in advance.:)

For $1500, you can get a new or like new Les Baer. The others don't even come close. If your set on one of the ones you've listed, it would be the TRP.

I know you said you have it narrowed down and of those I would go with the SW but I urge you to look at Dan Wesson.

Was the STI Trojan considered and removed from your consideration? If not, it might be worth a few minutes of your time. I'd pick this over the SA TRP and I own both. If the three you listed was really going to be the final list, I'd pick the TRP.

From the pistols listed the Springfield TRP would be my choice.

Springfield customer service, if you need it is free and fast. They also sponsor countless shooting matches with prizes. Giving back to the sport and the shooters who support them wins points in my book. As a former match director they work with you. The next two manufacturers, not so much. The Springfield is based on series 70 design and is true to the 1911 platform that way. A much better trigger can be had and the extractor is standard where the S&W abd possibly the Kimber is not (didn't look up the kimber model listed)

S&W is free CS but not fast.

I don't know about Kimbers CS, but they advertise everywhere, someone has to pay for that. I'm just not a fan.

Oh I definitely have! As a matter of fact the Valor in stainless was the gun I've been looking for from the start..... However the prices asked for these guns have jumped up several hundred dollars over the last few months.

A 12-1400 dollar valor would be amazing. However the 18-2200 prices I've been seeing lately make me wanna knock them off the list.

TRP its been around a long time and you seldom, if ever, hear of issues.

Of the one you have listed, I'd pick the S&W as it is backed by CS as good as SA, and I think you get a more pistol out of the Performance Center than off SA's production line.

Having said that, my usually preferences in that price range...in no particular order are the Dan Wesson CBOB, STI Trojan and the Les Baer Premier II

I have been considering the Trojan, but I haven't found enough info online about them to get jazzed up. I just live in an area where hands on with anything outside of a mainstream gun is a dream to say the least. So any info or pics of the fit and finish of the trojan would be greatly appreciated.
