OK, I'm a bit confused. What are the differences between:

1. Series 70 and 80.

2. 1911 and 1991

3. Kimber I and II

The answer to 1 and 3 is "no firing pin safety/firing pin safety"

Question 2: packaging. The 1991 was not a major revision of the 1911 design, it was just a marketing tool.

1. Trigger

3. Grip safety

Do you actually already know these answers?

Not really. I thought it had something to do with the firing pin but was unsure of the differences between Colt and Kimber. How does Springfield decipher the difference?

Springfield's do not have firing pin safeties... though the current models come with a MSH that incorporates a lock which, when engaged, will prevent the weapon from being cocked.

If you never lock it, you'll never notice it.

Mono-Sodium-Huh? :D

Sorry, presumed you to be a bit more attuned to the 1911 'net shorthand.
