1911 question

How hard is it exactly to replace and fit a hammer and grip safety on a 1911? I have a new GI 1911 on the way and I was thinking about replacing those parts later on down the road. I have no real tools besides a couple of screw drivers and a couple of hammers(I live in an apt). What exactly would it take or me to do these things myself or should I just leave it to a gunsmith?

I'm also working on a project 1911. I replaced the long-spur hammer with a commander style 3 months ago. It wasn't difficult, but you will need a very fine file and a hone is recommended to fit the hammer properly. I have not done my grip safety, actually don't intend to replace it.
