1911 with a 4 inch barrel

The Commander length is my absolute favorite. (Colts commander barrel is a bit over 4 inches at about 4 1/4) Both of mine are flawless and are much better balanced than the full sized gun. In fact if I had to choose only one it would be the commander.

I have a Dan Wesson Guardian that's been great. It's still pretty new to me but I have several thousand ronds through it with no malfunctions of any kind, and it's had no non-mag malfunctions in it's entire life.

Great balance and shootability.

One of my favorite carry guns for a number of years has been this 4" Springfield CCO.

Basically its a Commander upper (a bit shorter at 4") on an officer's lower. It has never failed in any way.

It looks to me like you've got one of the earlier Compacts with the barrel bushing. I've always wanted one of those. Newer Champions (like my Champ Operator) come with a bull barrel that is ramped to boot. Not sure I like the bull barrel but the ramp is a plus in aluminum framed guns IMHO. Is your barrel ramped? Any issues with the barrel bushing cracking? How many rounds through it? I'm always looking for an earlier 4 inch slide Springfield as I think they are very nice looking. Nice gun!

I have a few thousand rounds through it so far with no issues at all. The barrel is not ramped and its not really needed as this one is a steel officer's frame.

Its has been perfectly reliable and I have had no part breakages. I do replace the springs every 2,000 rounds just to be safe however.

Good to know. I will keep up my search for one. Thanks for the info!

We just got back from the range with the new SA Mil Spec 1911. It's absolutely perfect. Up until now I've owed XD's/XDM's and Glocks. I like them both, but now understand why people love their 1911's.
