1911s chambered in 9mm para??

I know this is a dumb question, but i am interested , finally, in getting a 1911. id like one chambered in 9mm..........who makes a good decent priced one? i dont want to spend THAT much on one.........cant afford a wilson or a high end Kimber......

also, im wanting a two tone look: silver slide, black frame, and , if possible, id like to find some spanish micarta grips for it..........any help would be appreciated!!!

Kimber has never made a 9mm 1911. Colt made a bunch of them and you might find one around used (that would probably be the cheapest way to get a 9mm 1911). I think Springfield also makes them (or did). Para Ordnance has a very nice 9mm double-stack (P18-9SR) but I don't think it is offered for civilian use any more. The best 9mm 1911 for the money is the STI Trojan which will run you about $920 new.

Obviously, getting a used one is the cheapest route and not a bad idea if you can find a nice one.

As for the two-tone thing and grips, you'd need to do that yourself after you get the gun.

The Springfield is PX9130L in Stainless Steel w/ Novak Fixed Low Mount Sites.

In addition, Dan Wesson is offering their (1911-style) Pointman Major in 9mm; I was quoted @$650.00 for one in stainless, with adj. sites.

Chrome = Tripp Research.

I've never heard of Spanish micarta. You can get lots of good ol' AMERICAN micarta from the Brownells catalog.

9mm was a pretty common caliber for the Colt Commander and Combat Commander, so if you don't want full length, those would be good choices.

Technically, the Model 1911 and Model 1911A1 were never made in any caliber but .45, since those designations indicate the military guns.

i went to my local gun shop asked around a bit..................he suggested the springfield 1911 in 9mm..........it is only availble in stainless, but thats ok, itll save me from refnishing the slide, ill just send the frame in to be polymer coated.......

reasoalbe price......around 675 or a bit higher i think...

You can count me among those with reliable 1911s in 9mm.

I have a pair of Springfield's loaded models, one full size and one Light Weight Ultra-Compact. Both have been reliable and accurate since day one.

I've run Sellier & Bellot, CCI Blazer and Wincheter's "white box", all 115 FMJs, through them, and have tested both with 115 JHPs from IMI.

For IDPA, I shoot my own reloads, using Rainier 115 FMJs loaded to an OAL of 1.178", also without any problems.

any customizing on them?

Im not one for the all stainless look. ive always liked a gun blued.........or at least tenifered........black is better.........BUT i am starting to like the two tone look.
Springfield makes one of their compacts with the exact same look that i want to give this 9mm one.......black frame, stainless slide and wood grips........just looks purty!!!

If you just want to try one out, find a distributor who is selling the Star BM / BKM series. They're usually <$200.00 and I've never had any problems with the ones I've owned. You can remove the piece that keeps it from firing with the mag out pretty easily...
