Hi 1911Tuner,
I need some advice please.
Springfield Armory's EMP 9 mm's are built on a smaller 1911 frame. This reduces the grip geometry and should also reduce the trigger-reach. However, SA ships them with their aluminum, 3-hole long-trigger and the trigger reach is about the same as a full-size 1911 frame with a short-trigger.
I would like to install a short-trigger on this gun but there isn't a source for one due to the shortened trigger bow (this includes SA).
Would it be possible to swap the short body from another trigger and use it on the EMP's shortened trigger bow? I haven't pulled the trigger out of the frame yet, so I don't know how the body is joined to the bow. Their other 3-hole triggers appear to be press-fit or swaged to the bow.
Do you have any suggestions? Kuhnhausen's doesn't cover changing trigger bodies.
Thanks very much,
Mercury.
