Alright folks, I just wanted to write a follow up to a post that I originally made back in March of this year http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-707182.html.

My father-in-law purchased a 1929 Colt Police Positive revolver that had a TAC logo with a wing engraved on the side of it. The first post was to ask if anyone knew what company the logo was for.

So, we figured out that the TAC was Thomson Aeronautical Corporation's logo. Apparently, Colt shipped Thompson 16 new Colt revolvers in October of 1929. My FIL contacted Colt and they verified that his serial number was one of the 16 revolvers and was actually number 4 in the lot as notated by the 4 that is imprinted on the butt of the revolver.

All this is great and all, but the exciting part comes when we find out that Amelia Earhart actually flew for Thompson Aeronautical. Better yet, when we found a roster of pilots that were listed one of the "first day" flights from MI to OH, she is actually listed in the roster of 16 pilots. And, if you sort the pilots alphabetically, she is 4th in the list.

The only thing that we are having trouble finding is that she was ever an employee of Thompson and not just a pilot making a special appearance for the first flight between cities. We were thinking of reaching out to American Airlines as they ultimately acquired Thompson Aeronautical and hopefully would have some records if Amelia was issues a revolver for her travels.

We'll see. I'm open to any suggestions on any other way to try to tie this to Amelia. Thanks guys.....here's some pics.
