Looks like a nice one. Is it a 91/30?

I think I see the little "diver's sign" square with a slash through it on the upper right hand corner of the receiver which would mean it's been rearsenaled at some point.

It's an Izhevsk arsenal 1937 production, at any rate

I don't know how to tell if it is a 91/30

There is no 91/30 on it anywhere. How do you identify a 91/30?
I'm just getting started with milsurps, and I am ignorant!:)

That is an Izhevsk M91/30 rifle. The r looking letter represents goda, the Russian word for year. The condition on that rifle looks excellent, like most of the refurbs that are currently on the market. After WWII, the Russians reworked many of them and buried them in salt mines all over the USSR. From what I understand, there is a number of them in the Ukraine, and Russia.

If you look closely (including BBL) you should find some sort of import stamp or mark.

Also, part of the rework often involved force fitting parts to the rifles, sine they were preparing them to be able to issue out if necesary, not concerning themselves with "What will John Smith, American gun collector, think in 60 years?"
