I am not up to date on Colt 1911s. I have had a Remington R1 for a few months and love it. I hear the praises of Colt and would like to get one. Saw this listing for a 1947 made Colt. Looks to be in remarkable shape. They are asking $640 for it. Seems to good to be true. Is this a legit listing.

This is a Colt Government model that was made in 1947. The finish is perfect, No rust, no problems, no excuses, no other scratches anywhere. It doesn't get any better than this. This is a museum quality gun. Guns in this condition are getting extremely hard to find. This gun has not been tampered with, it has the original magazine and grips.

Just my opinion, but I think that would be a good buy for that price - if it's still available, that is.

I clicked your link, it now reads:

"The community has spoken! This listing been flagged as a scam."

"If it looks too good to be true....."

I was about to comment that the slide doesn't look quite right and may have been reblued.

I ran into something like this last year. The guy listed a gun in Ohio I wanted, claimed he and the gun were in NY but he would ship if I sent money...

Unless you meet face to face use great caution, there are a lot of scammers out there.

Even with those pics the gun looks re-polished and re-blued. Possibly a few of the rollmarks stamped to freshen them up.

For a fella to advertise a "museum quality piece" at so low a price is silly.

There are few basic things a person can do to lesson their chances of being scammed. But knowledge is the best tool.
