I have had in my safe for the past three years my mother-in-laws Ruger Bearcat. I was wanting to take some pictures of it and while the blueing is in good shape, the overall condition is very dull including the brass on the trigger guard. Any suggestions on cleaning it without decreasing the value? Thanks for your help!
Background: My father-in-law purchased it for his wife in 1960 from a pawn shop for $25. It then spent the next forty years as her house gun. Most of it's life was spent under the couch on the carpet, loaded not in a box or any type of protection. She asked me to keep it for her when she turned eighty, said it now hurt her hand (arthritic) to shoot it. Oh, yeah I have the original box, owners manual, and the receipt from the pawn shop and no its not for sale. I just want to take a few good pictures of it. She still has her Marlin lever action rifle to use on “hoodlums†and it is just as shinny as the day it was purchased.
It answers the question, “What is the right gun?†This was the one she was willing, able and used a lot over the years.
