I posted this in the CZ forums, thought you guys might like it.

It was rough trying to get my wife to say yes. But convincing her the kid was already in bed and I still had two hours until Target World, (a local gun shop/firing range) was going to close, she hesitantly let me out of her grips so I could squeeze off a hundred rounds before nights end. Without wasting any time, I packed my range bag with the P-01, a few mags and my cleaning kit and was on my way.

Excluding the stop at Walmart for a one hundred box count of Winchester FMJ, I walked in to find the range packed with avid shooters and busy shoppers. As I approached the sales counter I noticed all the dealers and range staff had their hands full and I knew it was going to be a wait for a lane to open up. “How far back am I ?â€, I asked. “You’re about 15 to 20 minutes out.â€, One range operator said. I hesitated,“Okay, put me down.â€, then gave him my range card and went off to look around. I need a new duty holster for work and the Uncle Mike’s Dual Retention holster I currently use isn’t quite doing it for me so I grabbed a few I liked off of the wall and took them to the counter to do some fitting. There was a young lady staring down at the counters displaying the Glock’s and Smith & Wesson’s biting her lip. I set my range bag down and proceeded to unpackage one of the holsters I was thinking about buying. She was kinda cute and I knew she was very interested in pistols by the way she was taking her time to examine each one in the case infront of her. I reached down and opened my range bag and pulled out my P-01. I picked up a Law Pro tactical nylon holster and slid the pistol into the holster, snug. I looked over to her and asked, “What pistol are you thinking about buying?†Without looking at me, she replied, “I already picked it out and bought it and the dealer is in the back getting it for me.†I half heartedly said, “I see.†Then she looks up to see who she’s talking to. At that moment I was pulling my P-01 out of the holster I was fitting, and before she could finish, she says “..and I'm waiting for my Glock..... Oh wait, what's that?â€. I smiled as she stared at my P-01, pointing with a candy store look in her eyes. “This is a CZ 75 P-01 compact 9mm.â€, I said with confidence. “Can I see it?â€, she asked. So I took the mag out, pulled back the slide and handed it to her. She just gazed at it as she grasped it in both of her hands, feeling the grip and stroking the trigger guard while mock aiming at the floor. The controls were well placed for her fingers and the curves and angles seem to blend quite nicely in her hands. “What’s the maker of this again?â€, she asked me. “CZâ€, I smiled. “I think I like the feel of this one much better than the one I orderedâ€, she whispered. “I can take you out on the range and let you give it a go if you’d like to try it out.â€, I replied. Just then the dealer comes out from the stock room with a box and sets it down saying, “Okaaay, a Glock 19 and how many clips did you say you wanted?†She looks blankly at the dealer and says, “Do you mind if I go out onto the range and try this guy’s firearm out before I take my purchase?†The dealer looks at me, then looks at her and replies, “Suuure, no problem. Remember we close in alittle over an hour.â€

–To make a long story short–

She comes back in from the range with me and asks the dealer if she could please change her order to a P-01. The dealer scratches his head and says, “Are you sure you don’t want this Glock? It’s what you were set on a week ago?†She looks and me and says, “Nope. I think I’ve found what I was looking for.†The dealer had two P-01's in stock and she was able to claim one for herself. She filled out the paper work and bought two 75 clips along with her new P-01.

She thanked me for letting her try it out and I said, “No, thank you. I think you made a wise choice in switching your purchase.†I told her that I came to this range often and if she ever wanted a shooting buddy, to go ahead and shoot me an e-mail and we’ll hook up. She was very happy with her purchase and so was I... just don’t tell my wife.

Why not ? Your wife might need a new shootin' buddy. Besides you gave the gal your e'mail address. Don't wanna have to explain to the spouse why a woman she doesn't know is writing her husband wanting a date to the shootin' range. :uhoh:

I meant, dont tell my wife I swaded someone to buy a CZ instead of a Glock. She's an avid Glock fan, it would hurt her feelings. I gave some gal my e-mail address, doesn't mean I'm getting a room with her after a range session, plus my wife goes with me half of the time anyway. I'll make sure she goes, when I get that e-mail reply to make you happy, okay Werewolf? I think my spouse trusts me enough to go shooting with another woman.

Another convert to the world of CZs! The Glock is a good pistol, just
probably not an ideal choice for a First pistol. Basically a single action
design with the only safety on the trigger, no matter how much they
want to call it a Safe Action.

The decocker CZ is much safer in most hands..and the single action
trigger pull is much lighter for precision shooting.

After many years of bliss with the CZ75, my favorite 9mm is now the
pudgy, soft shooting P-01.
