I saw a Marlin 39A built in 1960 with an old Weaver scope attached while I was browsing a pawn shop today.

I would say that it was in "very good condition" except that it was missing the plastic cap for the bottom of the pistol grip in the stock.

Questions:

1) What's a good price for this rifle?

2) How hard would it be to replace the missing end cap for the pistol grip?

3) Would an old Weaver scope be worth anything? (I know almost nothing about scopes).

Thanks for you help.

Can't say anything about the value of the gun, but if it was built in 1960 it's better made than the current ones.

As far as weaver scopes go, it's pretty much hit or miss. In their day they were good quality scopes, but age takes it's toll on them. On the other hand the scope may be fine for a .22 or other soft kicking rifle. I hunted with a k3 for years until it finally wouldn't hold zero. If the scope has a post/crosshair and is in good shape it's worth money.

300-350 would be a great price for this rifle if everything else is ok with it.

The cap shouldnt be to hard to replace. Parts for the 39a arent to hard to find.

I dont know how much the scope goes for though.
