I've been on a tear digging out rifles that I've bought over the last few years and never shot.

I got this 1968 "sneak" M39 back in 2010 and got busy and didn't fire it. I finally took it out of the safe and took it to the range last week to see what it could do.

I used some Prvi "match" 54R ammo @ 100 yards with these results.

I fired the first two that hit the center, then threw one up at 11 o'clock, then another two in the center, then the last two hit @ 11 o'clock. Not sure why it did that because I had the sense that they were all good shots on my part.

I know this is an elementary question, but where do you set the sight ramp on a military rifle to hit bullseye at ~ 100 yards?

Well...that depends on the rifle.

My Swiss 1911's have sights that start at 300m's. So usually I will stack a target one over the other and aim at the bottom target and record hits on the upper target.

Others start at 100 or 150M and I usually take a "6 o'clock hold on the target and get hits right on it. The M39 sights start at 150M, so if I take a "6 o'clock" aim, it will hit in the center @ 100 yards

I really love those late-model M39's. I've got one from 1970 that's a bit worn in the bore but still shooting great. I suspect they were built to replace arsenal stock M39's

Thanks! I have a 7X57mm Spanish Mauser and an 8X57mm Mauser that I need to put on the range. A friend gave me the Spanish Mauser in trade for an IBM Selectric typewriter. It's a sweet shooter, and accurate, but I didn't pay attention to how the sights were regulated when we fired it. The 8mm has been in my dad's gun cabinet forever.

May I ask if you have the handguards tightened down snug or if they are somewhat loose?
I read recently of a gentleman whose M39 shoots best with everything tightened down but read the opposite previously.

********nevermind, I just saw your previous post with range report.
