I'd like to know what guns you can fire two calibers out of the same weapon? Like 357 and 38
454 and 45 colt
458 lott and 458 win mag
That's all I know of. Are there more?

Technically, you're talking about the same caliber (diameter) but different case dimensions. There are a few of these, but generally caution is advised because there are others that will fit but not be safe.

Here's a chart someone put together, but I can't vouch for its accuracy. SAAMI may have a similar table. Proceed at your own risk.

45LC is actually the same size as .410 shotgun shells and many guns can aslo fire these.

I want to try shooting trap with this BFR with the vented rib =)

BFR .45LC/.410

Oh ya, and I have a question too. Can you shoot 7.62x25 out of an AK or SKS?

Let's not forget, 44 Remington Magnums will take .44 Specials and .44 Specials will take .44 Russian.

When I first read your Thread line, I thought you were talking about convertable firearms like Ruger's Blackhawk that can comes with two cylinders.

No. If you were to compare the two cartridges, you'd understand why. One is MUCH smaller dimensionally than the other, one being a rifle cartridge, one being a pistol cartridge.

It wasn't included in that list and isn't a rifle cartridge, but you can shoot .40S&W out of 10mm chambered revolvers.
This is for REVOLVERS only (with moon clips) as autos headspace off the casemouths.

Me too. On this as a side note, Ruger made dual cylinder guns in 38-40/10mm, 32-20/32 H&R mag., .357/.38/9mm, .45LC/.45ACP, and .44mag/.44-40, that I know of. Also you can get moonclips to shoot 9mm in GP100 and GP101s from Ruger.

There used to be a company in TX that made a revolver that took any straight-cased 9mm / .357 round (.380, 9x18, 9x19, 9x21, .38, .357 mag, .357 max, etc) . It was called the Medusa, IIRC.

I don't know this to be true, but I was told that .303-caliber Enfield rifles could chamber and shoot 7.7mm Arisaka.

45-70 can be fired out of 45-90. I'm not totally sure, but I think it can be fired out of the longer ones as well.

475 linebaugh revolvers can also fire 480 ruger. of course, the ruger-chambered pistol cannot fire the linebaugh.

8mm Mauser is 8x57mm
.30-06 is 7.62x63mm

When you lay a 8x57 next to a .30-06, you'd see that it is not possible to put a .30-06 in a 8x57 chamber or vice versa. The shoulder of the .30-06 is several mm ahead of the shoulder of the 8x57, while the 8x57 neck has a large diameter neck that will keep it from fitting in a .30-06 chamber.

WHAT??!!
Nobody has brought up the .22 short/.22 long/ .22 long rifle chamber!
The new .460 Smith and Wesson will chamber that beast plus the .454 Casull, the .45 Colt., and the .45 Schofield.
Oops, wait, this is a rifle Forum.
Ok, the new .32 H&R Magnum rifles should chamber .32 S&W long and .32 S&W standard cartridges as well.

NO, you can't fit .30-'06 ammunition into an 8mm Mauser rifle chamber. Sometimes, you can drive an 8mm Mauser round into a .30-'06 chamber, but firing it is highly dangerous.

You can't fire the 7.7 Japanese Arisaka rifle cartridge in a .303 British chamber; it won't fit. This story comes from the fact that the Japanese did use a different rimmed 7.7 cartridge in their Naval Lewis guns, and that round is the .303 British under another name. But if you have any Japanese 7.7 rimmed ammunition, don't fire it; it is worth big bucks on the collector market.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that 6.5 Arisaka (6.5x50) will fire from a gun chambered for 6.5 Swede, but not the other way around.

With a quick change barrel configuration, the FAL can be set up to fire a wide variety of calibers.

As can the AR15 and Savage bolt action rifles... I have one action and barrels for 4 calibers for the savage... 3 different calibers for the AR, 223, 7.62x39 & 9MM
