Hi all, I finally hacked the apron strings so to speak and was able to take my 2 boys, 18 and 16 to the range with me yesterday. The X was not very fond of the fact that I was a gun collector and shooter and had been giving me grief over taking my boys out to the range with me. I have been prepping them for months... Gave them the 4 +1 firearm rules...lots of safety materials, and a couple copies of Gun Facts 4.0, one for momma to read the other for them to read. http://www.gunfacts.info/
Went over basics of the different handguns I brought with, (Beretta 92FS 9mm, DW 1911 PMA-S, Ruger GP141 .357 and a CZ52 7.62x25 Tokarev)
We literally had a blast....of course I didn't get to shoot too much having 2 newbies to wrangle but what the heck...another couple of shooters have been born. I was very impressed at how well they did too. And only 2 infractions total. 1 finger alarm, and one muzzle pointed other than down range. Even tho it was unloaded and locked open it still was pointed incorrectly. These young men never played games, got rowdy or un safe. Strange cause they are definitly rowdy material outside of the range. But they knew the rules going in....The range is no place for goofing off. If they did we were done...PERIOD! They listened intently (which is more than we usually get at home)
asked lots of questions and were very courteous.
Both were very accurate at all ranges out to 25 yrds. (max at that range) but we pretty much kept our targets close in about 8-9yrds. We started out with the basic 25 yrd slow fire targets then when they saw me shooting at paper plates and 3x5 cards they did the same...I guess all those shoot em video games really do help cause both those boys were deadly accurate...
Later on I brought out my CZ52 and they were dazed by the flaming blast that little beast puts out. Aside from the nearly non existant sights I really have come to like that gun....deadly accurate and noisy as summer thunder storm. The boys really enjoyed shooting that one too. Best thing of all....I have 2 more shooting buddies when ever I want em. mack
