'Tween swamp and sun!
Monday night was ladies night at a local indoor range. I talked my wife into going and trying out our Dan Wesson 22. I also borrowed a friend's GSG 22 and my brother and his wife brought their Ruger SR22.

Wifey has shot with me once or twice before but this time she had more focus and I could spend more time with her. We started out with the DW and I took a few shots at around 10 yards. I gave her a quick rundown of the four rules and how they played out in our situation. I showed her how to handle the gun and how everything operated. She was great, and took her time. Then, she started shredding the 10-ring of the target!

I was quite impressed. I think she did REAL well for her first official range trip. Before we left, we were competing to see who would be the first to get a 10-pointer at 25 yards (the farthest that this range has). We pretty much called it a tie. She had a chance to try out the DW revolver, the GSG (1911-style) and the newer poly-wonder SR22. She really liked the GSG, except that it jammed more than I would have liked. It did it for both her and myself, so I'm certain that it wasn't limp-wristing or anything. I supplied the ammo for a borrowed gun so it could have been the Federal ammo we were using. I've shot it before without any issues, so, who knows.

Before it was all over, she decided that she liked the Dan Wesson the best but that didn't stop us from perusing the gun cases on the way out to find something in pink (for her). She's excited about going back again and nothing would make me happier than to have her as a shooting buddy!

Looked like a happy shooter grin to me! Cool that you both like to shoot. Just don't make bets with her...you'll be adding to that "honey do" list! :D

My wife CAN shoot...she just rarely goes shooting with me. When she goes she shoots with her camera rather than my pistol.

I have found it easier to teach grown women to shoot than men. My wife shoots pretty well, and gets her buck before me nearly every year.

Mine is my Fiancee!

No pictures, but my Fiancee loves it too...I've ended up ceding my Arsenal AK74, and my first AR15 to her due to how much she loves them, and the fact that she can shoot them better than me! It's nice having a SO that wants to go as bad as me.

My fiance shoots with me every now and then. Her favorite saying is..."I'm not recoil sensitive they just don't like me." She likes to stick to the 22's. Which is fine with me and my wallet.

When I met my current wife about 14 years ago, we started talking about hobbies and interests early in our dating. I made it a point to bring up my passion for guns, shooting, occasional hunting and reloading (as well as flying airplanes, jumping out of them, riding motorcycles, etc.). Her eyes lit up and said one of her fondest memories was helping her Dad reload when she was a little girl.

Ding! We have a winnah here! She had one small revolver when we met, she now has six handguns (including a Glock 19). We both have our LTC's too.

Mine comes with me ever so often and also likes shooting my gsg1911. For whatever reason it took like 1000 rounds before it started running the way it should. Now i can even give it crap golden bullet remingtons and it shoots reliably.

Beautiful. Guys, when your lady loves you enough to show interest in what interests you, and trusts you enough to let you teach her how, you have to return that love and trust for the rest of your life.... because, you know... she's a crack shot with small arms. :p
I'm glad my wife shares my love of 38s. If anyone were ever to shoot me, I'd want it to be her. She's earned it. :p

That is so nice that you significant other can enjoy what you also love. After 15 years, i am still trying to get my wife to shoot with me. She has gone out a few times but never got hooked on it. Good for you boys!

Fivetwoseven, that is great. But you need to get her some shooting glasses.

I know, we forgot eye pro that day.

Could be a posed photo, you know? Not in the act of firing?

That picture was taken from a video of her firing, my bad.

527, congrats on finding yet another chance to post a pic of your fiancee/tantal haha

Figures that you would jump in with that! :D
Fivetwoseven:Marry her, Now.

Our plans are for next summer hopefully. We both have a lot going on in our lives to be sure. She wants a S&W M&P 15-22 for her first gun, I guess I have to get her one. ;)

Congrats to C5rider and the rest. Sharing an interest with loved ones makes it all the better. Our first date was to an indoor range with a Ruger Single-Six, my only handgun at the time. We're now approaching our 30th anniversary and have expanded to a second gun safe. And she is responsible for about a third of them. Good start, better present. :D

As long as they are shooting "With you" and not "At You" It is a beutiful thing. :what:

My wife and I get to the range evry 500 years /sigh we need one closer to home thats for sure :)

C5 and I sort of know each other from another Forum. He's a lucky guy, and so am I. My wife has tolerated the guns and shooting for a good many years, recently she surprised me by taking NRA Basic Pistol and is applying for her Carry Permit.

She does not plan to Carry, but she wants to feel comfortable as a partner with me in shooting, and to protect her right to defend herself in whatever way she MAY want to in the future. In spite of the fact that she married me, oh so many years ago, she's not stupid!

You're right Steve!

In fact, the wife is away on a short trip for a few days so, the boys and myself went to the LGS just to poke around. While we were there, she text'd the oldest, asking what we were doing. He replied we were at the gun store.

Her reply, "For me!!!"

Yup, might have created a monster. Luv ya honey! :D

My wife is on-again, off-again with shooting. She has a couple guns of her own, but goes at it in spurts. When she's "on", we make it a point to indulge her interest. She's never had any objection to me shooting and hunting and has recenlty agreed with me that it's time to start our son in the woods. He's been shooting with me a little before, but now I want to get him out in the woods during season carrying an unloaded rifle. Get him used to muzzle awareness with people moving around him, not just on a square range. He's probably going to be my primary hunting and shooting partner for a while. He's super interested and excited, if only for limited amounts of time. He's only eight, so there's time to learn properly. The only downside is he's going to be a left handed shooter. He's right handed, but left eye dominant (getrs that from his mother). He finds it impossible to shoot right handed but does alright lefty, so we're going with it now instead of fighting it and winding up switching later anyhow.
