We have a Jeep & Ammo club at our small (20+) office. We always invite anyone to join us regardless of experience. We stress safety and go to a range managed by the Georgia Dept of Wildlife and they run a very safe range.
Today, out of 12 people, 9 were brand new shooters. We ran over Jeff Cooper's rules, and the range officer handed out safety pamphlets. We started them with an unloaded Mossberg Plinkster and got them comfortable, then loaded it up and let them go.
It was great, we had 2 mothers, 3 girls, and 2 boys fire their first firearms in a very safe and controlled setting. We let them use a Henry H001 and a Ruger 22/45, if they were interested.
Man, what a great day. The boys moved up to a new Ruger SR9c and a few fathers shot one of the Mosin-Nagants we bring. I got to shoot the Ruger SR9c and compare it to my older P89. I like that sr9c a lot.
All in all, a great day.
