There is a hex screw in the front of mine (used Para Ord. 14-45 I just picked up) that will not stay put. If I have no intentions of going into the rod, can I use blue LocTite without causing a problem?
You could do that, but I prefer to replace FLGR's (whether one or two piece) with standard guide rods & plugs. One pistol of mine, a Colt .38 Super, which had never malfunctioned with standard parts, started to have numerous FTF's when I installed a one piece FLGR. When I replaced it with the original parts, the problems ceased.
IMHO, the the FLGR is the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the shooting public. It is a costly, useless, and potentially dangerous non-solution to a non-existent problem. Sure, the idea sounds good when said fast; so does that secret carburetor screen that gets 100 mpg from your Humvee.
