.20 VarTarg

So I'm poking around for a rifle chambered in .221 Fireball and I came across some information on the .20VarTarg. This is basically the .221 necked down to .20 caliber.

Any personal experience with this cartridge on this board? Opinions / experiences would be of great interest to me...

I have shot a few Nesika's in it and they were plenty accurate but I have yet to shoot a bad Nesika.

If you are a reloader go for it. It is kind of a wildcat right now with only a few companies loading for it. It definately will not win a popularity contest between it and the 204 Ruger but I myself like to be different anyway.

Shot with a guy yesterday who was using a 204 Ruger. His rifle was one flat shooting rig, and he was taking prairie dogs with it quite handily. I envied him at 4,200 fps while my 223's were lobbing out at maybe 3,200 fps.

The choice of course is yours, but the 204 Ruger is a factory loaded cartridge, and components abound without a whole lot of work as in neck turning etc. Seems a no brainer to me.
