The SHOT Show is to guns what the Detroit Auto Show is to the auto world. This is where the firearms and accessories industry unveil what is new. It runs Jan 11, 12 &13. Jeff Quinn of gunblast.com will be doing a daily recap on his site every evening.

So who's coming out with what?

And, what do you want somebody to come out with?

I've got $ burning a hole in my pocket, but I'll wait to see what's new before I blow it.

You know, it's been in Las Vegas for how many years? The one time I manage a way to get in...they hold it in Florida. :banghead:

In addition to Jeff at gunblast.com, NRAnews.com will be broadcasting live from the SHOT Show on Thursday and Friday (noon-3 p.m. Eastern is the live broadcast on NRAnews.com, replayed at 9 p.m. Eastern on NRAnews.com and on Sirius Patriot 144).

This is my first SHOT Show, and I can't wait to get down there and see everything. It should be awesome.

The line for R. Lee is Looooooong.

Last year, a nice lady I know waited in line to get his autograph. Nice guy. When you're in front of him, he treats you like you're the only berson in the room. When it was her turn, she asked him if he was getting writer's cramp (middle of day 2 or 3). He lowered his voice and whispered, "No, but I'm gettin' a sore a$$ from sittin' here."

I passed by the Glock booth constantly last year and late in the day Sunday as our eyes met I said, "Only 45 more minutes, Gunny." "Ooh Rah!" he responded.

My wife and I are relocating to Orlando this month. She is already there, but I am still on Virginia with our child. :banghead: I hope they hold it in Orlando again so I can join in the fun. :)

Okay, so anyone have any details / pix from the Shot Show yet?

What new firearms are coming out?

What about accessories (such as the new Cree LED Surefire lights)?

I look forward to detailed reports & lots o' pics of all the new stuff we can all anticipate seeing this year! :D

Jeff has the pictures of day 1 posted on gunblast!!!!

The new Smiths the Beretta rifles the New Taurus's the new Kel-Tec!!!!!!!

I am so jealous, I wish I could be there!!!!!!

Lots of companies just showing some minor variants on the same ol', or bringing out the same rifle but in the new "must have" cartridge, etc.

A bit annoyed that Bushmaster brought out a new .45 AR cartridge; was there some downside to supporting the existing .458 SOCOM?

Kel-Tec bullpup rifle = super-sweet
Stevens o/u shotguns = if affordable, very cool
S&W Model 27 re-issue = spiff

One of the coolest things was actually for the pointy-stabby crowd. The Jani-Song was released. It's a hybrid of the classic balisong with modern knives. The BladeForums folks seem pretty hyped about this. Here's some video:

The new Kel-Tec .308 bullpup looks fantastic. Three versions, an 18" barrel carbine, a 26" barrel sporter and a 32" barrel target model. Preliminary pricing is $2000, $2500 and $3000, but that's MSRP. Expect about 70% of that for street prices, after the initial rush. Release date is scheduled for 1Q08. Here's the brochure (2 MB):

Here's a thread devoted to it, including pictures taken at the SHOT Show:

I discovered the Kel-Tec PLR-16 when I was waiting for Rock River Arms to ship the LAR-10. It was so much fun I bought the Kel-Tec SUB-2000 folding 9mm carbine and it's great too. Now I'm a Kel-Tec fanboy. I was still planning on buying the LAR-10, but not now. I'm getting the Kel-Tec bullpup. I better start saving now, or I'll have to sell a kidney early in 2008 to buy the Kel-Tec RFB bullpup.

I see you like the PLR16. Here's my dad's.

BTW, where is everybody getting reports on the show? I went to gunblast and can get to the right page, but it is not showing any clickable link to day's 1, 2 or 3 yet.

gbran,

I don't think you're even allowed to be in possession of that picture of your dad's PLR-16 in California. :neener:

There are a few members over at KTOG.org who are serving as our 2007 SHOT Show spies, funneling us pictures and intel from the show floor.

Frankly, Kel-Tec has been running ragged lately trying to keep up with orders, and the general consensus was that 2006 would be a recovery year for them and they probably wouldn't have any serious new products at the SHOT Show. Many of us had been lobbying for a bullpup, a .308, or even better, a .308 bullpup. When I read about it last night, I was very surprised. When they designed the RFB, they really seemed to be reading my mind. I was so surprised by the announcement, when I woke up this morning I had to check again to make sure I hadn't dreamed the whole thing. :)

Is there a 5 inch M&P 9mm from Smith and Wesson and if so when are expected release times? Thanks

tickets/access...

I posted a topic a few months back here about the 2007 SHOT show. Since the event is near where I live and work I also wanted to go. When I went to SHOT's main website, the event says SHOT shows are not open to the general public. The shows are for FFL holders, procurement/LE/military types, ammo-accessory vendors and selected media.

I spoke to a SHOT show attendee who works as a sales rep and he said if you work in a firearm related position you can go to the SHOT shows. He also said tickets at the door were $50.00USD

Because I work in the security industry, I could have got in but I did not want to go and get turned away over the rules :banghead:

I read a gun magazine writer's complaints about the crowds at the SHOT shows and I wanted to avoid any big fuss.

I added a lot of new information to the site last night. I still have a lot more to add as well. So keep an eye on it.

One of the sales guys at the Browning booth said the show will be in Vegas the next 11 years.
Next year at the convention center, then 10 years at the Sands.
