FINALLY! Got a chance to try this target at the range! Had Lasix laser surgery on my shooting eye and it's corrected to 20/20 - YAAAAY. The other one that they messed up when they did cataract surgery got a new lens and I can now at least see out of that one! Finally got cleared to drive and shoot from the Lasix procedure yesterday.

I completely re-did the sights on my Ruger 10/22 Takedown. Put a set of Tech Sights irons on it and moved the Barska red-dot to the forward mounting point so the Tech's would "co-witness" through the red-dot. I had to zero the irons and re-zero the red-dot anyway so I took a few of the match targets with me.

Nice thing about our indoor range, I can use the .22 rifle on the 25 yard pistol range which has MUCH better lighting.

First target is with the irons (red dot turned off), 25 yards, Wolf "Match Target" ammo. Claimed score 81, 1X (lucky shot).

Second target is with the red dot, 25 yards Wolf "Match Target" ammo. Claimed score 83 (0X).

Shooting position for both was sitting, elbows on the shooting shelf as the only rest.

Targets are a little dark. My scanner wasn't working so I had to use the camera. On the second target, the USBR shows a tear into the 7 ring. It did wind up being a seven as it barely broke the ring when I laid it flat on the table with the torn part folded back in place. I did call it a 6 So, depending on Maverick's call, that one could either be an 83 (0X) or an 84 (0X).

Jim, looks close enough to call it a 7 to me...that said I'm tempted to disqualify you for cheating by using magnification (implanted in your eye, no less) in the non-magnified division!

On a serious note, I'm glad you're back in action; I know you've had a rough time with your eyes in the past year or so.

How did I know you were going to say that? Anyway, at almost 72 it's really nice to be able to see the front sight and the target at the same time again even though I still have to have reading glasses for close-up focus!

I'll take the 7 on that one, thanks. The thing that still amazes me is that 10/22 Takedown. The accuracy with the ammo it likes best is super and it's remarkably consistent in "return to zero" after being taken apart and carried around in the bag. Plus, I've not really been careful about bumping things or whatever. Granted, I did change the sight configuration and had to re-zero it due to that, but I doubt if I'll have to change anything next range session. Glad I bought that 20K pallet of Wolf "Match Target" ammo back when nobody wanted it and you could still get the stuff without mortgaging your first-born for it!

Now to get the Howa 1500 (.223) out for a Centerfire session. At least I have enough ammo loaded up and enough components on hand to make around 2K more.

Gonna have to shoot that one at 100 yards in the Target Class though off the bipod, it's got Nikko Sterling sniper type optics on it and it's heavier than my Army Garand was back in 1961 when I wasn't old & feeble - LOL.

Whohooooo warm weather

Temp was actually above freezing this morning, first time since I think November. Daytime high hit 50! but along with the warmth comes the WIND .
Had to get out to test the new 10/22 LVT. Ran about 50 rounds down range to sight it in and season the barrel. In the wind I shot a 82 and after another 50 rounds down range shot a 5/8" edge to edge 20 shot group at 50 yds.

Took the Winchester 52 pre-A along with iron sights and shot a 84. Not great for either score but felt great to be out.
