The end of the year is just around the corner, so it’s time to start looking back at what we have picked up this year. I have been fortunate to score 4 straight purchases while on a fairly tight budget, and make a trade or two to change things up a bit. All of this after a score of a Marlin 62 late in 2017 that became part of my Christmas, so I am claiming it as a 2018 aquisition too.
The buys...
Marlin 62, short throw lever action 30carbine. $100
Colt New Line 22, a junker that likely will not come back to life unless I make a new frame for it. But it’s still cool. $38.26 total.
Rock Island m14y 22lr, a neat little wood stocked bolt rifle with threaded barrel and a 10shot detachable box mag. It’s mine, but it’s for my girls. Total right at $160.
Smith 10-6. Ugly, but amazing at the same time. It’s getting a racegun makeover for Christmas. Including a sight rail and holosight. It will get a shot of alumahyde or some similar gun paint to ease the ugly. $250 out the door
Butler 22short Derringer. Unfired, pretty, neat toy. $95 out the door.
Trades have been more sparse than most years. The big trade was an AR pistol for a Taurus m327 and a mountain of ammo. The Taurus has no grips in the photo, new grips are wrapped and under the tree, and old grips are on their way to a user on another forum.
To top it all off I bought a LCT and a couple more sets of dies so now I am loading everything all rifle rounds that I shoot, and all pistol rounds except .380 and I intend to buy those dies soon just to have the whole rifle and pistol sides of the safe eating home cooking. That just leaves plastic, which brings me to the Ponsness Warren 20ga loader that was sent to me by @LoonWulf that I cleaned up and got working again. If I run across a deal on a 12 ga loader I’m jumping there too.
I have been blessed in many ways. Looking back, looks like I’m more blessed than I realized, and this is just in the gun world. In the grand scheme of life I am thoroughly blessed far beyond what I deserve. How has your year been? Photos are appreciated.
