I drew a permit to hunt a good public deer area last June. The hunt is this weekend; they allow 2 deer, either 2 does or a doe and a buck that is at least a 6-point.
I shot a doe first thing in the morning and then moved my stand and got this 8 point just before dark with a .25-06. I shot the buck back in a thicket of scrub oaks and had a devil getting him out. Luckily, a young, strong hunter I met last year in another area was hunting across the road and helped me drag him the last 100 yards through the thick stuff.
Thank you, Daniel.

That's a unique buck. I like the ring around his eye.View attachment 879606 8pt 174 lbs dressed, I took with my crossbow
25 yards relatively easy shot.Very nice. How far with the cross bow?
Almost forgot to post. Both my son and I got what we were after with a bow. My son especially should be pleased shooting a 10 year old declining buck. He had only two chances to go out before finals and was able to get a great shot the last minute possible on his last hunt.
