2020 Python update...

I haven’t seen an “official” recall from Colt, just a couple of bloggers ranting. As I’ve posted before, I own four new Colts, two 38+P Cobras (2017 Cobra, 2018 Night Cobra) and two 2019 King Cobras in 357 magnum, the 3” model and the 4-1/4” Target. Have had zero problems with them so I’m not concerned about the 2020 Python. Got my local gun guys looking for one for me.

And no pics!!! How dare you sir, how dare you!

JK, glad you like it. :D

No problem. Not much to take a picture of unless you happen to like seeing pictures of holes in targets. In my case they look more like a buckshot pattern (at long range) than anything else. :)

Here's one my wife shot though. She was pretty proud of this and so was I. She doesn't shoot much, and I really didn't think she'd do well with the Python because of it's weight, but she fooled me. This is twelve rounds, 125 grain 357, shot D/A from about seven yards.

Not too bad for a self described "old crippled lady" who walk with a cane, and hadn't shot a D/A revolver since I don't know when. The first two shots were those two low and left. Then she made a mental adjustment and just started pouring them in. She looked at me said "Is that OK?" Yea...not too bad. Now I can't show off my targets. ;)

Have you considered sending it in for the recall?

To tell you the truth, I don't know there is a recall. I know some guy on the internet said he thinks there is, or something like that, but well, that's not enough for me to worry too much about it. I suppose if it ever becomes official, I'll think about it, but generally speaking I'm in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp.

I doubt anyone will find this at all interesting, but I went to the range today and put another 100 rounds of my 125 grain, 357 handloads through my new Python. No malfunctions of any kind, just a pleasant time at the range.

The only "problem" I see is I let my wife shoot it, and now she wants one. :)

I'm glad to hear that your Python us running great!

I'd love to have one but money is tight. For the price of a Python I could get 3 or 4 items from my list of guns I need to get.

Oh sure. That I understand. The only reason I got one was I sold off three other guns I had that I knew I'd never get any use for. Two of them I'd never fired anyway.

IMHO, you don't get a Python because you want a 357 Magnum revolver. There are too many other good options out there, for far less. You get a Python because you want a Python, and nothing else will fit that niche.

I'm happy for you. And I hope your good luck continues. The more rounds you put through it, the more confident you'll become of it. That's true with most any new gun. But especially with this one.

Shocking! I have a Colt Gold Cup made in 1997, I bought it new in 2000. The Front Sight Flew off at about 200 rounds, I bought a staking tool and re-staked it myself. The machined edges were all like razor blades, I stoned them dull to avoid small cuts on my hands when I stripped and cleaned the gun. The ejector also needed re-pinning/staking.
The Gold cup was their flagship .45....

In 2015 I bought a new Gold Cup 70 series and it is much better than the old one.

I believe that Colt will fix the issues.
