I have heard the same about pronghorns. Personally, I didn't care for it, but my compadre thought that it was great. I'll take whitetail venison over pronghorn any day.

As for goodies for the next season I have a new pair of Danners ordered, 2 new trail cameras, new leaf camo, and a couple of new Vortex Diamondbacks, a Leupold and I am looking at another climbing stand. I figure that this year's deer will cost me close to $15 lb if I fill all six tags.
I have only had pronghorn once and the cook did a wonderful job preparing it.

I’ve had venison that was amazing, a roast prepared by an avid meat hunter. I’ve also had venison that was gamy and strong and only for for spicy hamburger helper. So a lot has to do with the way the meat is handled and the cut of meat.

My own experience is that the silver skin has most of the gamy flavor and that careful trimming makes the best venison. I’ve made roast before that was great. But I also can’t cook a steak for nothing. One reason for that is I detest pink meat. Kill it twice make sure it’s dead is the motto round our kitchen and grill.

I hunt year round, and use a smattering of different rifles. But I've been carrying my 280ai quite a bit, last 3 sheep i shot we're with that rifle.

I haven't used one of my handguns or my bow in a while, might do that next chance I get.
The 280AI is a sweet chambering in my experience. I built one for my brother and it's surpassed his 300WM for his general rifle.
On the OP... I'm going to be using my R92 in 357 this year. For longer range my 240Wby will be used.

Like many of you hunters I have been planning for next hunting season. As part of the planning I have been trying to decide on what rifle, bow, and other tools I will be using this year.
What tools do you plan on using for 22-23 season. A new bow, your old faithful rifle, ext... Has your state law changed (Illinois) allowing new rifles. Have you drawn a new species tag.
I would enjoy reading!/seeing what you are planning on using.
Same thing I use every year. My Bear Cruzer bow (pending injury healing) and my sporterized mosin. I might use my SKS if I can find a 5 round mag and a decent optic.
