Am thinking of reviving the internet postal matches we had running a couple years ago. This is a prelim post to hash out the details. I'd like to run them quarterly, with the first starting as soon as I get an official post/rules together through April. Would be cool if someone could take the wheel after April as my work gets too busy to keep up with extra stuff.
All shooting will be unsupported field positions. Basically no portion of the rifle may touch any artificial support such as benches or bipods. Sitting, standing, prone, bench sitting supported by elbows, pretzel, whatever you wish so long as rifle is supported by your body. Sling use encouraged.
Was thinking of running 2 classes.
Sporting rifle/tactical carbine would include any rifle you might reasonably carry afield for big game hunting or serious work. Trying to keep the PRS type builds out. If there is enough interest, I could add a 3rd category. Limit of 6.5x on your scope magnification. Any ammo, any unsupported field position.
Military/iron would include any as-issued military or paramilitary arm including sporterized, and commercial sporting rifles with issue sights or "combat" or "field" type iron sights. Match and diopter sights prohibited.
